Congratulations to the UPXDS Association, Inc. on its first anniversary!

 I am glad that former grantees of the UPXDS program have reconnected with each other through this organization. Twenty-five years after the last batch of guarantees were admitted into the University in 1981, this association was formed. It may have taken time, but it has finally happened.

 More than just reconnecting with fellow grantees and old friends, however, the UPXDSAI has endeavored to encourage poor but deserving students to pursue and complete their college education through scholarships and other forms of assistance. For this the University is truly grateful. Your contribution to the scholarship programs of UP is certainly a big help to our students.

 And the University has great reason to be proud of you. You desire to help is proof that you embody the UP spirit-that of academic excellence and service to the nation.

 Though UPXDSAI is still young organization, I am certain it will go far. I wish you all the best in the years to come.
